A New Standard in Indoor Environmental Quality

Inspire Physiotherapy

About the Project

Located in Melbourne, Inspire Physiotherapy and Pilates Studio was designed to deliver a highly controlled indoor environment for wellness and movement.

The objective was to create a space where temperature, air quality and airflow remain stable under all conditions - supporting sensitive occupants and high turnover, without compromise.
Key Challenges
Delivering a reliable indoor environment required performance beyond conventional system limits.
  • Maintaining stable conditions under high occupancy and constant turnover
  • Supporting sensitive occupants, including those more vulnerable to temperature and air quality variation
  • Managing odour and maintaining fresh indoor air
  • Operating within a constrained service area
  • Delivering consistent performance during extreme external conditions
Approach
AirSmart adopted a systems-led approach, resolving temperature, airflow and air quality as one coordinated system.

The focus was on exceeding standard operating conditions to ensure the space performs consistently, regardless of external climate or internal load.
  • Engineered system performance beyond conventional design limits
  • Prioritised indoor environmental quality (IEQ) as a primary outcome
  • Applied low-velocity airflow to eliminate drafts and disturbance
  • Integrated air quality management within overall system design
  • Configured system to operate effectively within limited service space
Solution
A customised AirSmart Indoor Environment System was implemented to deliver stable indoor conditions under demanding use.
  • High-capacity, energy-dense air delivery system
  • Maintains internal conditions of 20°C during 40°C+ external temperatures
  • Integrated air quality management within the system
  • Low-velocity, draft-free airflow
  • Compact configuration suited to constrained plant space
The system is designed to perform beyond typical operating conditions, maintaining stability under both peak load and high occupancy.
Key Outcomes
The system delivers a controlled and reliable indoor environment.
  • Stable indoor conditions maintained during extreme external temperatures
  • No perceptible drafts within occupied areas
  • Consistent air quality across high-turnover sessions
  • Fresh, odour-free indoor environment
  • Performance exceeding conventional HVAC operating limits
  • Efficient use of limited service space

Why It Matters
Wellness environments depend on more than temperature - they rely on stable, clean and controlled indoor conditions.

This project demonstrates how integrating airflow, temperature and air quality into a single system can deliver a higher standard of indoor environmental quality.

The result is a space that not only performs, but provides confidence to its occupants.
