AirSmart began with a problem that could not be solved.

When one of David and Delilah’s children was diagnosed with severe asthma - requiring frequent hospitalisation - they set out to find a system that could properly manage air quality while maintaining a stable indoor environment.

They took a comprehensive approach. The home was renovated to remove potential VOC sources, materials were reconsidered, and changes were made to bedding and lifestyle. Despite this, it became clear that indoor air quality remained the primary factor.

They searched globally. Nothing met the standard.

Most systems treated temperature, airflow and air quality as separate problems. None addressed them together.

What began as a personal need became a clear direction.

Working with engineers, researchers and global suppliers, David - with a background in industrial design - and Delilah - with a background in development - drove a new approach. One that combined thermal control, humidity management, controlled airflow, integrated air purification and architectural alignment into a single system.

AirSmart was not created as an alternative. It was created because no suitable solution existed.

That principle continues today.

AirSmart’s research and development facility, AirSmart LABS, is based in Geelong - the historic home of mechanical refrigeration, where early innovations helped shape modern climate control globally.

AirSmart LABS operates as a dedicated research, design and testing environment, separate from day-to-day operations, allowing focused development of new systems, components and manufacturing methods.

Many AirSmart products are protected by patents, with a product development pipeline extending more than a decade ahead.

Ongoing development is supported by in-house engineering, digital manufacturing and continuous testing.

Innovation at AirSmart is not fixed. It is continuous - driven by both long-term development and immediate application.

Sustainability at AirSmart is not an add-on. It is built into how systems are designed and delivered.

Energy demand is reduced through considered system design - not just component efficiency. AirSmart systems support the transition toward fully electrified buildings and integrate with technologies such as heat pumps, hydronic, geothermal and solar.

AirSmart systems are also designed to evolve over time. As technologies change, components can be upgraded without replacing the entire system, reducing material waste and extending system life.

AirSmart manufactures where it sells. Wherever possible, production is carried out locally, supporting local industry and reducing transport impact. Manufacturing is increasingly brought in-house using advanced digital processes, including 3D printing.

All AirSmart manufacturing operates at Net Zero.

The result is a system that not only performs efficiently today, but remains relevant over time.
